Learning Support Coordinator

Social Studies Teacher
In my first year of teaching I was faced with the group of students who didn’t ‘fit’ in the normal classroom and whose learning needs were as varied as their personalities. From this challenge I took an interest in working with students who need understanding and support to be able to reach their potential. The work has many challenges, but the reward is to see these students grow in confidence and ability.
I have always enjoyed learning about the world, so being a Social Studies teacher is the best! I love the opportunity to teach students about this amazing world God has given us and, through the lessons of the past and present, to challenge them that the future of the world does in fact lie in our hands and how we allow the transforming power of God’s love to work through us. What a privilege it is to have input to the shaping of young lives.
Prior to coming to LAC I have been a Social Worker, involved in church ministry and stayed at home with my five wonderful children before training for teaching in 1997. Out of school I am kept busy with my now grown-up children and new grandchild. I have always been an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, but in the last few years I have been discovering how therapeutic furniture restoration and gardening can be.
