Geography Teacher
Bible Teacher
I arrived at LAC in 2007 from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where I taught for more than ten years. I attended the UPE (NMMU) as well Helderberg College and Unisa.
I enjoy involving students in the learning process and building positive relationships with them. My role is rather holistic in that I get to be involved in knowledge, skills and values in the classroom as well as with the after–school sports activities. I also enjoy working with charities and pastors in the local community - my students and I hope to make a difference with food and clothing collections. One day we hope to be able to contribute to the AIDS Orphanages in South Africa.
I find that Geography and Bible/Religious Studies complement each other very well in my classes, with the contemporary and global geographic issues such as HIV/AIDS, child labour and even natural disasters.
Christian students have Christian values, and the issues/topics invoke empathy and compassion, respect for other cultures, community participation and the realisation that we have very little control over the forces of nature. However, in God we have hope.
