International Students Enrolment Procedure

 

Step 1: Request Information Pack

• Download Information Pack from www.lac.school.nz

Step 2: Complete Application Booklet

• Post, fax or email completed Application Booklet to LAC

NB: The Education Reference form needs to be completed by a relevant staff member at the student's current school.
NB: The Character Reference needs to be completed by someone who knows the student well but is not a family member (and not the same person who completed the Education Reference form).

Step 3: Selection Process

• Application Booklet is received by HOD of International Students Centre (ISC).
• Decision made by HOD of ISC, Assistant Principal, Principal or HOD of Intermediate School if junior student/s.

Step 4: Notification

• Student/s are notified of their acceptance by receiving an official acceptance letter from the HOD of ISC, which assists with applying for a Student Visa/Permit (Study longer than three months) or Visitor’s Visa (Study three months and less).

Step 5: HOD of ISC Receives Confirmation Slip

• Student Confirms s/he is willing to accept all of the conditions as outlined in the acceptance letter.

Step 6: Fee Payment

• An important factor in our policy is that fees for international students are paid in advance; this is a New Zealand Government requirement. Please contact Mr Chen about fee payment. He may be contacted by email AndrewC@lac.school.nz or by phone or fax (Ph: +64 6 354 1059 Ext 701, Fax: +64-6-355 1350).
• After fee payment is made to LAC, Mr Chen will send an official payment letter to the student.
• Fee payment letter will assist with applying for a Student Visa/Permit (study longer than three months) or Visitor’s Visa (study three months and less).

Step 7: Applying for Student Visa/Permit

• If your length of study is longer than three months at LAC, you must apply for a Student Visa/Permit.
• Download Student Visa/Permit forms from New Zealand Immigration website - http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ (e.g. Student Visa/Permit Application Forms and Student Visa/Permit Guide).

Step 8: Receive Student Visa/Permit or Visitors Visa

• Make travel arrangements - Purchase flight tickets, etc. to Palmerston North (LAC).
• Contact HOD of ISC of your date and time of arrival.

Very Important - Student Visa/Permit

• You must apply for a Student Visa/Permit from your own country.
• Students will not be accepted to LAC on arrival unless they have all the appropriate immigration documentation.
