The City & Guilds (formerly Pitman) Qualification is recognised around the world by employers, governments and professional bodies as evidence of English Proficiency. Furthermore, it is a reputable external examination, marked and processed in the United Kingdom. The City & Guilds Qualification has a reputation for high quality and the maintenance of international standards, which ensures that the awards are valued. Successful students are awarded with a certificate at the appropriate level of English proficiency.
In both 1999 (Pitman ESOL Basic) and 2000 (Pitman ESOL Elementary), two students (Japanese, Tahitian) in the International Students' Centre at Longburn Adventist College were awarded medals for their outstanding achievements in the Pitman examinations conducted during those periods. They received the highest grade of all students sitting these examinations, which is quite an accomplishment considering that these exams are offered worldwide.
