"Your word is a lamp to my  feet

And a light to my path."

Ps 119:105

At Longburn Adventist College we are passionate about connecting students with Jesus Christ. Our teaching is focused around the concept of ‘head-heart-hand’. This literally means Biblical ‘head’ knowledge leads to accepting Jesus Christ in your ‘heart’, the product of which is revealed in the way you live (hand).

From Year 7, Bible is a core component of what is studied. Teaching and learning are aimed at encouraging students to understand core Biblical stories such as creation and the life of Jesus, as well as personal application such as positive self-talk.

From Year 11, Achievement Standards have been put in place, encouraging students to achieve at a high level. Each year at the senior level, students look at a variety of units from Biblical text to ethical issues. The focus of what takes place in the classroom is to provide opportunities for students to gain head knowledge and then to put it into practice in their individual lives.

The Bible Department is excited to exist at a time where the relevance of what is being taught is high. The opportunity we have to build relationships with students that will in turn connect them with Christ is amazing. We see ourselves In the Bible Department as part of the link between home, peers, and the wide world.
