The Technology Department offers students opportunities to work practically in a variety of situations. Engagement in creating, problem solving, constructing and evaluating make learning fun and rewarding.
The technology department is divided into three separate areas:
All three areas teach important life skills and allow students to both develop hobbies from the skills they master and to progress on to chosen career pathways. They are all hands-on, practical-based subjects, complemented with some theory work.
All Technology subjects are compulsory at junior levels. From Years 10 through to 13 they become full-year option courses. Although students can pick up any of the three as ‘stand alone’ subjects, we do recommend they have taken it at the previous level, as this helps the students perform to a higher standard.
We have well equipped teaching facilities and equipment, plus committed staff who are dedicated to student success.
Hospitality/Cooking
This course is designed to educate students in food and nutrition, and offer more healthy food alternatives and/or lifestyle choices.
Some of these options include:
-

The students make the projects in the workshop, where they are taught how to use the hand tools and machines safely, and to maintain them. At the end of the year the students can take their projects home.
Some of the projects the students have made are:

Stools
-
Bedside cabinets
