Production
LAC has a long history of students with outstanding musical abilities. So, in 2009, we decided to revive this element of the performing arts and send our students to the stage in the musical production ''Runaway'.
Runaway was the college’s first musical production in 30 years. A classic story of a Father’s relentless love for his prodigal, Runaway explored the universal themes of relationships, rebellion, forgiveness and, ultimately, salvation. We were thrilled to bring a contemporary version of this parable to the Palmerston North community, highlighting the special character of our school and the talents of our students. The audition process in term one was both exciting and entertaining, with over 40 students vying for lead roles as well as positions in the band, choir, backstage crew and wider production team. This process unearthed a mine of talent, with some outstanding vocal performances for the lead roles making casting a challenge. For many of the cast, their involvement in Runaway was their first experience on the stage. Over five shows, our students performed in front of over 1,000 people in both Palmerston North and Auckland. We really sensed the Lord's blessing as we presented the story of His love for us. Our next production is currently ‘in the works’, so if you are a prospective student of LAC, make sure you check out our Performing Arts department! We would love to have you on board! |
