Hong Kong visit LAC House

From Wednesday 21 to Tuesday 27 February, LAC House hosted a group of students from Hong Kong.

Through contact with the Principal of our sister school, Hong Kong Adventist Academy, a fun-filled 7-day trip was planned for the group. The group toured the North Island and had a day of lessons at LAC.

The group of 19 was made up of students from HKAA and Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School (KSY), and it was a privilege to guide them around the stunning countryside of New Zealand with the assistance of Roy Henry and Kelvin Rutherford.

After picking up the students from Auckland airport, we were able to spend time exploring Rotorua while being based at Tui Ridge, an Adventist Camp only a short drive from all the attractions.

On Friday 23 February, after a Huka Falls jet boat ride (Mr Henry’s highlight), we were able to reach LAC to meet up with boarding room buddies and enjoy a fantastic weekend of bonding with LAC House. The Honk Kong group joined with LAC House in taking Sabbath service at Central SDA Church and enjoyed a Sabbath walk along Foxton beach. The day ended with games in the newly renovated gym. A big thank you to the Kapao family for organising a fun packed evening!

The Hong Kong group were amazed at the scenery throughout and the trip leaders, Laura Shepherd (HKAA) and Caleb Chung (KSY), really appreciated how LAC House did all they could to connect their students and make them feel at home. Even though the group was able to see many sights, it was the connections made with LAC students that were the real highlight.

A big thank you to everyone at LAC who helped make this memory for HKAA, KSY and ourselves. While a short trip, many lifelong memories were made.
