Sort It Expo 2018

On the 17th of May our Year 10 - 13 students took some time out to investigate what careers are available in a wide range of industries. Stallholders ranged from Driver training to Medicine to Game Developing to Pilots. Students participated in activities to do with their chosen field and were able to speak with representatives from local companies and training institutions. It was great to see many who were confident to ask questions and make useful contacts for their futures. One student has even obtained work experience! Well done LAC.

BCITO -Building Tour 2018

Jade Wright, Rebekah Mudford, Daniel McBride, Campbell Sowry and John Medland and I went on the annual BCITO Big Expedition on 30th May 2018. Donning our hard hats and high-viz vests, we boarded a bus at Bunnings (who later provided us with an amazing lunch) and visited local building sites. This included: Concrete Structures, who are building the footbridge over the Manawatu River, Metro Glass, Isles Construction (at Cornerstone School) and Colspec Construction (Massey Aviation School).  A great day was had by all.

Career Appointments - Mrs Mancer

All year 13 students have now attended Career Interviews with Mrs Mancer. Year 12 students will be next - so if Y12 students can check their emails regularly for information on this. Career Appointments are a great opportunity to look at your goals and make some choices about tertiary study or apprenticeships in the future.
Driving Lessons

As a school, we are encouraging the students to get their Learners drivers licence as soon as they turn 16. The process of getting to a Full licence is usually a matter of 2 years in time and $338.20 in fees, not including driving lessons which range from $60-$70 each.  So we understand this is a drawn-out process. If you are an AA member, you are eligible for 3 free driving lessons and these can be used by a student in your family.  Whether you are a parent, uncle, auntie, brother, sister or grandparent.  Make the most of this free offer and book today or see the links below for more information.

Mrs Mancer has business cards for other local driving instructors who are already involved in teaching our students.
