Exploring Careers: Gateway and STAR

While you're still at school, there are government-funded programmes that help senior students explore careers and get real workplace experience.

  • Gateway: a structured workplace placement giving you hands-on experience in a specific industry, such as an Early Childhood Centre.
  • STAR (Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource): short courses that give you a taste of a career, like a one-day Hair and Beauty session or a two-day Vet Nursing course.
  • Other in-school options: study by correspondence through Te Kura, or Trades Academy and Secondary Tertiary Partnership courses through UCOL.

Talk to the Careers Advisor to find out what's on offer and how to enrol.

Driver Licencing

  • Drive has everything you need to get ready for your learner, restricted and full licence tests.
  • Apply for your car driver licence in New Zealand at NZTA Waka Kotahi
