Become a Host Family

Welcome a World of Opportunity: Become an LAC Host Family

At Longburn Adventist College, our vibrant international student program is an essential part of who we are. Students travel from all over the globe to experience New Zealand culture, achieve academic excellence, and grow in a supportive environment. While some of our international students stay at LAC House, many seek the warmth, stability, and unique experience of living with a local host family. Becoming a homestay provider is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to open your home, share your lifestyle, and make a lifelong global connection.

As an LAC host family, you provide more than just a room and three meals a day; you provide a home away from home. You become a crucial anchor for a young person navigating a new country, helping them practice their English, understand Kiwi culture, and feel secure. In return, your family gains a unique window into another culture, fostering deep empathy, global awareness, and unforgettable memories for your own children. Whether it is sharing a family meal, exploring the beautiful Manawatū region on the weekend, or celebrating everyday milestones, the bonds formed during a homestay often last a lifetime.

We deeply value our host families and view them as vital partners in our school community. To ensure a successful and joyful experience for everyone, LAC provides comprehensive, ongoing support. Our International Student Coordinator works closely with you, offering careful matching based on interests, clear guidelines, and 24/7 assistance whenever you need it. Financial remuneration is also provided to cover the student’s living costs. If you have a warm heart, a welcoming home, and a desire to make a positive impact on a young person's life, we would love to welcome you to our homestay network.
