Student Care and Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our students is foundational to everything we do
We operate under the firm conviction that a student successfully engages in academic learning and personal growth when they feel secure, valued, respected, and understood.
Our approach to pastoral care ensures that from Year 7 through to Year 13, all members of our school community are wrapped in a comprehensive, compassionate safety net. LAC fosters a proactive culture of everyday care designed to build character, nurture emotional intelligence, and help young people navigate the unique milestones of adolescence.
Year Level Deans
Our Year Level Deans serve as the first point of contact for daily student support, guidance, and academic tracking. They provide dedicated, age-appropriate oversight to ensure every student feels supported within their specific peer group.
- Year 7 & 8 Dean: Rachel Paki
- Year 9 Dean: Amanda Froggatt
- Year 10 Dean: Sophie Bain
- Year 11 Dean: Julianna Paul
- Year 12 Dean: Priscilla Tooley
- Year 13 Dean: Olivia Korte
Comprehensive Support Services
Through our combined pastoral network, students can access a comprehensive range of professional care and counseling services on campus, including:
- Individual Counselling: Private, one-on-one therapeutic sessions addressing personal areas such as anxiety management, stress relief, processing grief and loss, navigating low mood, building self-esteem, and managing life transitions.
- Conflict Resolution and Restorative Mediation: Facilitating safe, structured conversations between peers to build understanding, restore relationships, and teach healthy communication skills and personal boundaries.
- Crisis Support: Providing immediate, acute emotional support and psychological stabilization for students experiencing sudden distress or personal hardships.
- Group Wellbeing & Resilience Programs: Running specialized workshops and group sessions targeted at developing emotional regulation, positive body image, positive peer dynamics, and healthy relationship skills.
- External Agency Liaison: Serving as a bridge between the school and external specialist services. When a student benefits from long-term or highly specialized clinical care, the team coordinates directly with local health providers, family therapists, and mental health networks to ensure a seamless continuity of care.
A Partnership with Families
At Longburn Adventist College, effective student care is a collaborative partnership between the school, the student, and the home. Our team works in close communication with parents, caregivers, and year-level deans to create a unified system of support. By nurturing the heart, mind, and spirit together, we ensure that every young person at LAC is fully empowered to grow into a resilient, confident contributor to our world.
