Activities Overview
Students at our school enjoy a vibrant range of extracurricular opportunities that help them grow in confidence, creativity, and service. From competitive sports and the cultural energy of Pasifika Fusion to the compassion shown through World Vision initiatives, learners are encouraged to discover their strengths and contribute meaningfully. Our performing arts pathway includes Big Sing and choir, where students develop musical excellence and teamwork. Service is at the heart of our identity, with opportunities such as the service trip, allowing students to put their values into action and make a positive impact beyond the classroom.
LAC Choir
The Longburn Adventist College Choir (LAC Choir) has been working diligently throughout the term in preparation for the Big Sing. As a student-led ensemble, the choir has continued to grow in both size and musical ability over the past year, with increasing student participation strengthening the group.
This year, the choir has chosen to take a different direction in their repertoire. Students have committed to performing a selection of contemporary Māori songs as a way of acknowledging tangata whenua and embracing a meaningful cultural learning experience. This choice also reflects their desire to challenge themselves musically by exploring new styles outside of their usual repertoire.
The choir has been supported by a range of staff and community members, and students have shown strong dedication by attending rehearsals during break times and class times. Their commitment and teamwork have been key to the progress they have made in preparing for this performance.
After School Sports Programme
Our After School Sports programme provides students with the opportunity to develop their God-given talents, stay active, and represent the school in a variety of sporting codes. Through regular training sessions and inter-school competitions, students build teamwork, leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship while learning the values of respect, perseverance, humility, and service. We encourage students to honour God in all they do, striving for excellence both on and off the field. Whether competing at a high level or trying a new sport for fun, our programme offers something for everyone while promoting fellowship, personal growth, and a healthy, active lifestyle.
